LANDFIRE BpS models are used to estimate reference fire regimes and to map reference fire frequency, severity and fire regime group. Reviewers can provide feedback on the modeled fire frequency and severity of any BpS.

BpS models and descriptions contribute to Fire Regime Groups, Fire Return Interval, and Fire Severity.
The BpS models results for fire frequency and severity are used to map fire regime groups, mean fire return interval, and percent replacement, mixed, and low severity fire.

Review Steps

  1. Download the Alaska Reference Fire Regime spreadsheet (.xlsx)
  2. In the spreadsheet or in a separate document, provide feedback on the reference fire frequency and severity of any BpS. Please include citations to supporting references whenever possible.
  3. Send your feedback to landfire@tnc.org.
  4. All reviews must be submitted by 28 February 2022 to be considered.

Note: We may contact reviewers for more information, especially if their review indicates the need for changing the BpS model.
